Our Minister
The Minister of the church is the Rev. James Grote
James was born in Elm Park, Essex and spent his teenage years growing up near Saffron Walden where he was baptised and became a member of the Baptist church in the town. He studied theology at Manchester University and trained for the ministry at the Northern Baptist College.
He began his first pastorate in 1981 at Carey Hall Baptist Church in Leicester and from there he moved to Littleover Baptist Church in Derby.
A growing interest in the Central American country of El Salvador led him and his wife to go there with the Baptist Missionary Society in 1991. They spent three years with the Salvadorean Baptist Churches supporting people in the aftermath of the civil war.
In 1995 came to John Bunyan Baptist Church.
James is married to Susan and they have two grown-up sons, Daniel and Cameron. They also have a dog called Jess, who accompanies James to the church most days!
